Crippling choice keeps people buying. Sustain the purchase agreeable mindset longer by presenting a difficult choice and you make more money. It's the retail trance and is usually limited to people's credit limit.
I by-pass this mental warfare by having low thresholds if decision when things don't matter. Unfortunately for a lot of industries this retail tactic is going to make their markets worthless. Unless, as per usual, they actually make a good product.
