Sarah Glen, editor of local monthly alternative paper "H Magazine", won a contest for the CBC's reality TV show NOW or "No Opportunity Wasted". She was told Wednesday she had 72hrs and a clear schedule to arrange a public art exhibition to benefit the youth outreach program "Re-Create". CBC host Jian Ghomeshi (remember Moxy Fruvous?) held the ceremonies and hype Canadian band Bedouin Soundclash took the stage between the auction of pieces.

Sarah made $5000 for Re-Create to renovate their gallery space. There are questions as to weather or not all the hoopla was worth it. More awareness of Re-Create was definitely brought up. It's $5000 they wouldn't have had otherwise. It was also fun to have a TV shoot a block away on a Friday night.

Now the CBC has rolled out of town and we only have our own wits in which to increase the awareness of our little arts community in the collective conscious of Canada and the world. We all had a little pow-wow at Acclimation where many brilliant people were in attendance. In the end I think it's a good experience for the street and the people involved. Even if the entire experience was totally harrowing for those involved.

I got a wicked Hammer Head t-shirt my friend Erin made for Re-Create. It looks like sperm. Hammer Head Shark sperms.

The show airs in November.
