The Big Yarn 2007: Apostle of Hustle
Aug. 31st, 2007 03:45 pm Going back to August 20th here. The Big Yarn concert at West Side Theatre to beneifit The Imperial Cotton Centre for the Arts.
Last time we saw Apostle of Hustle I was with The Giggle Girls and I got shushed by some way-too-surly concert goers at the Casbah. So I escaped to the lounge to go drink and talk to people I know having missed their performance on purpose.
Now I do not condone shushing in venues that do not have assigned seating and sell alcohol. I am all for ettiquette and style in public places however the rules are perhaps more detailed than being a stuck up hipster prude at all times.
Lucky for Apostle of Hustle their music is rather awesome and when I saw them in a real concert theatre the show was nothing short of fantastic. Great stage presence, fantastic music and the sort of drama that good bands bring to the stage. A real feeling that you're watching a performance not only by talented musicians but also by actors and artists. Rather than talented (or not) people standing around trying to look cool.
