Funny thing. My much awaited appointment with the oral surgeon was just a consultation! That's right. I waited Since September to get a consult with this dick shit. I mean they were nice and professional and clearly winding down for the holidays. But no. There were to be no teeth removed and but a scant bill of $81 to have the RPN take my blood pressure and the surgeon to look in my mouth for all of 45 seconds.

Between Mom's fight with Manulife/Greenshield to get altered work for her MS and my delving into the wonderful world of privatized dentistry... I just can't see how Americans aren't bombing their own hospitals. That's right, the only time I've experienced wait times for health care in Canada, personally, has been for the only type of medicine that is not publicly funded, dentistry.

So I'll be waiting until MOTHERFUCKING MARCH FUCKING GODDAMN CUNTSHIT 7TH. At which point I will have the supreme pleasure of playing $1166 to have three teeth removed. Which 80% will be refunded upon the completion of my paperwork myself at the convenience of my insurer.

I'm going to give them $1247 and they won't even file the fucking paperwork for me.

Can't say I'm happy about this. On the bright side I get to eat solid foods this Christmas.

Come on down... my friend Dr. Larry the Oral Surgeon can probably beat that price and get you in on an urgent basis.

He did a bang-up job repairing Jeff's tongue.

I had much the same opinion of my "consultation" for the oral surgery. The treatment I had from the general billing staff almost had me walking out the door before I even went ahead with the next step for the procedure.

Chris is right - he'd probably do the procedure for cheaper than your base cost, but you'd be out the refund. The CA$ to US$ ratio isn't *that* good yet.

My experiences have usually been much better. In Toronto, I had a dentist from the Dominican Republic, and she could usually see me on a few days notice. Also, extractions were more in the $100-200 range.

I have also had similarly reasonable experiences in Cleveland and Akron, Ohio.

Maybe you might have better luck taking a quick bus trip to Toronto or Buffalo? Waiting 6 months is ABSOLUTELY ludicrous.

There's gotta be a faster way! I waited about 3 months, which I thought was too long as it was.

But yeah, being able to eat for the holidays is a good thing!
