Codeine Dreams!, originally uploaded by nfotxn.

I may have been totally high on codeine when I did this. I had all three of my wisdom teeth (one never showed up) removed Friday morning.

Pro: Time off, drugs, avoiding huge snow storm.

Minus: Hard to smile, talk, bloody gauze, hungry as heck and hard to eat, no smoking.

Yeah my jerk boyfriend quit smoking this year. Meaning that not only is it bad for me I'm also the one with geek stink breath when we get all tongue-to-tongue. Which will be way awesomer now that I don't have bony pieces of ivory stuck in inopportune places in my jaw.

Pros Outweigh the Cons, Hopefully?

Did they take each one out whole, or in pieces? Mine came out in pieces (to extract each root properly) and I didn't get to keep them either :-(

This was the tiny one that was mostly NOT impacted that came out easily. The other two included a bony impaction still in the jaw near my sinus and a distal impaction that was referring pain down my neck. Those ones came out in pieces and I didn't get to keep 'em.

Hey, this would be a good time to quit smoking anyway..

I had 4 regular teeth pulled, and 4 wisdom ones as well.. i had to do a videoshoot the next say, and was so fucked on codeine... the video turned out awesome.. i remember 2 dollar coins looking REALLY interesting, but not much more.

Yeah codeine is enough for me. I'd hate to be stuck on like illegal narcotics. Because this stuff is making everything just that extra bit shiny, enough to really get used to.

I didn't see you on much but I was zomgdying with the flu last week so I've just been kinda doing the whole "wow, now I'm not dying AND I have to catch up on a ton of work - AWESOME!" thing :D

I've done it once but it's confusing! I'm not supposed to disturb the blood clot but STILL supposed ot irrigate it! I sooo don't want dry socket.

Ohgad! I remember that from when I had 3 of mine pulled. The clot/clean ratio is a killer!!!

Sweet! Now you can get... things... farther back in your mouth without scraping them on your teeth!

Is that a loonie or a penny?

It's... just a penny. *Hangs head in toothy shame*

Ha! Well, I never had any wisdom teeth at all, so penny-sized is just fine.

That's exactly when I quit smoking. After three or four days avoiding dry socket, I figured why not keep at it? So far so good, over 8 years.

Hope you feel better soon!

I was one of the lucky ones. I had two taken out by my regular dentist at $50 each and then the two uppers taken out by an Oral Surgeon years later. The two at the Oral Surgeon were impacted is why I had to go to him. I didn't have pain or need for drugs either time and they came out whole. It was the one time in my life that luck was on my side. I hope your feeling better soon.

Trust me on this one. You saved yourself a whole lot of trouble down the road.

I read about an inmate who neglected his wisdom teeth and nearly died from an amazing infection. There was some sort of name for the huge cyst that can grow. Anyhow I strangely love stories about people releasing huge quantities of puss. I dunno why. It's oddly purifying? One of my favourite things to do in bed, post-coital, is to check Huw's back for backne zits I can pop.

I was the same way. I only had three wisdom teeth. The doc looked at my x-ray and said, "Did you have one removed already?" When I said no, he said, "You're lucky. You've only got three. You're also unlucky because two of them are impacted."

After I had my surgery, I was out like a light for 2 solid days, surviving on Jell-O, water, lots of gauze, and a medication that kept me asleep. Only took one painkiller after it was all over and that was just initially to try and blunt any pain that might arrive after the anesthetic wore off.

The sockets did take a while to close, but the doc told me that it might be the case since I didn't get mine done until "later than usual" (i.e. 28 years old).

So with all the codeine in you, it's time to try bottoming! heh

Did you get al of the teeth to take home with you? I still remember getting that half toth taken out in pieces. I wasn't interested in keeping that.
