This is a really cool take on the combating the drudgery of disposing of alkaline batteries. Even if you can take them to work or a store or have curb side "red waste" pick-up I think getting light in public space outta the deal is cooler.

I wonder about the unforeseen uses though. What if people start disposing fresh batteries? What if the light is so popular that it's always lit up? Should it be emptied every day? Is that a worthwhile investment to divert more batteries from landfill?

I just love the idea. I think they should have these in controlled public places like theme parks [livejournal.com profile] davecobb.

It looks like a Cert. Remember Certs? Do they even sell them anymore? They had that tasty chloraphyll centre...

Well do understand it's just a 3D model by some industrial designers. I'm sure it could be made to work. But this is just a concept :)

I want one for my front driveway/yard. It's kinda dark out there at night. and if people want to stop by and stick batteries in it, that's OK. I can dump them in the regular garbage when it gets full....

Stop pulling my hippie chain or I'll have to pour battery acid in your drinking water.

actually, a little battery acid in the water would probably kill off some of the crud that is floating around in it.
