To all the Cannucks you know how to vote. But remember there are new ID rules so be sure you have your Health Card and an addressed bill OR a driver's license OR be prepared to swear an oath. Which I'm sure will take longer.
But more importantly I wanna implore people to vote for the environment. The true north strong and free is totally dirty and gross. We use more fossil fuels than Americans. We're digging the shit out of the Athabasca tar sands for 3rd rate oil that we're selling to the Bush regime for big bucks. Big money Harper is cutting out of taxes so his friends in the energy industry can make cash at breakneck speeds off of our shared natural resources. My brother works there now doing site remediation. He tells me about the giant holes in the ground where all the dirt has been panned for specs of oil. Lakes, rivers and ponds dredged for every last spec of oil. Left behind are craters usually hastily refilled with dirt as per environmental guidelines and little else.
It's like the bad guy from a kids movie.
We're lucky. We don't have to vote for our equal right to marriage anymore. But I think with the coming hard economic times we all know prosperity comes from innovation not strip-mining our natural resources for the benefit of private companies and share holders. So focus local on a candidate and party who holds up those values. Vote in your constituency against the Conservatives and Steven Harper.
Now go vote and let's see how this turns out...

Let's Avoid Vote Splitting
Here's a handy list of ridings where the Conservatives are winning. If you live in one of these ridings you can vote for the party in 2nd place, if you want to. I believe in voting for what you believe in personally. But in the present climate we know that anybody by Steven Harper is a better choice. Now go vote and let's see how this turns out...

Seriously, the only hard part of the "anybody but Con" vote is that here in Ancaster-flamborough-hyphen-hyphen, it's a hard call. It's gay-hating Jesus-freak Sweet's riding, but Guyatt and Liberal Guy both got substantial turn-outs. Liberal Guy got more than Guyatt, but he's been replaced by newcomer Arlene Reallylong-Hyphenatedlastname and I don't know if that popularity transfers. That, and I kinda like Guyatt, even if I generally think that the NDP is a dead end (go Greens... except that May is a right-to-lifer, in direct contrast to her own party).
Whatever. Voted Guyatt.
