I'd just like to thank everyone for all the cards they sent this Holiday. I received one from Ted ([livejournal.com profile] notofthisworld) just today, although I will cut him some slack for being trans-continental and all. Actually, I just appreciate any sentiment at all regardless of timeliness.

Unfortunately I didn't send out my cards.. they're actually in my backpack with the postage paid. I apologise for that, when I went to mail them I noticed I'd missed the last day by two days. I'm a spazz that way, but this'll make things really easy next year.

I'm having the familiar feeling of worthlessness again. That is that I'm not in my space in life that I'd like to be. Wait, hold up! I don't feel bad about it. I don't take it as a necessarily terrible thing, it motivates me not to sit at home masturbating and eating cornchips all day. Much the same way water is liquid above freezing, unstressed I am a sloth. Luckily my sub-conscious synthesizes motivation through good-ol' self-hatred! Ok, so I'm over-stating things here. Hyperbole aside that's pretty much my situation.

One more year. One more year and I finally get to have true independance. All my decisions and their repercssions will be my own to suffer, and what sweet suffering it will be. I want to scrape my rent together by a hair, I want to find out to feed myself on a student's budget while still staying healthy. I want to feel the luxury that is to return to all the ammenities at home just for the weekend.

Life is too easy, I need some more challenges.

I have a theory that Justin Timberlake is actually secretly poisoning Micheal Jackson with insanity pills such that he can take his place as the supposed "King of Pop". The reality of our world is that Micheal is still the loveable moonwalker we grew up with and Timberlake is actually a demented young man hellbent at achiving fame at any cost.

Actually, come to think of it, the previous statement is true even without the insanity pills.

Hung out with Ian ([livejournal.com profile] etherlad) at his pad with my bro' Aaron ([livejournal.com profile] tootired) and played Space Munchkin while watching Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within [omnious choral pad with hard-pan and swoop sound transition to next paragraph]

It's fun to just geek out like this sometimes. Last time I saw the Final Fantasy movie Brendan and I got righteously baked (such that I could no longer operate the Interac™ machine) which left some rather large gaps in my recollection of the movie. Nice visual effects of course but christ it was written by the same dude who writes for video games! It was like a computer animated soap opera with action scenes and a vague sense of Japanese conservatist moralism.

Ian's book "A Universe of Star Wars Collectibles" suprisingly didn't have my vintage Yoda Puppet with hair. I priced this honey on eBay a few years ago at about $80USD which ain't too shabby for a rubber puppet from 1980 that smells funky.

Illegal Art

"The laws governing "intellectual property" have grown so expansive in recent years that artists need legal experts to sort them all out. Borrowing from another artwork--as jazz musicians did in the 1930s and Looney Tunes illustrators did in 1940s--will now land you in court. If the current copyright laws had been in effect back in the day, whole genres such as collage, hiphop, and Pop Art might have never have existed.

The irony here couldn't be more stark. Rooted in the U.S. Constitution, copyright was originally intended to facilitate the exchange of ideas but is now being used to stifle it.."
